Performance of Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Log-normal Shadowing and Fading under Fusion Rules

چکیده
The performance of a cognitive radio (CR) user is sometimes limited due to severe fading or shadowing. In order to detect the primary user (PU) more accurately, we allow the CR users to cooperate by sharing their information. In this paper we investigate performance of single CR user and cooperative CR user based spectrum sensing (CSS) using energy detector (ED) in channels such as Log-normal shadowing, Rayleigh and Nakagami fading channels. Hard decision combining fusion rule (OR-logic, AND-logic and MAJORITY-logic) is performed at fusion center (FC) to make the final decision about the presence of PU. The performance of single CR user based spectrum sensing scheme has been assessed in terms of missed detection (Pm) and false detection probabilities (Pf). The performances of energy detector for different values of average SNR are characterized through complementary receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Comparison among fusion rules has been investigated for a wide range of average SNR values in Rayleigh and Nakagami fading channels. A simulation model has been developed to evaluate performance of CSS in different fading environments. The performance of CSS has also been studied for various data fusion rules in Lognormal shadowing channel.

Attack-Aware Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks under Byzantine Attack
Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) is an effective approach to overcome the impact of multi-path fading and shadowing issues. The reliability of CSS can be severely degraded under Byzantine attack, which may be caused by either malfunctioning sensing terminals or malicious nodes. Almost, the previous studies have not analyzed and considered the attack in their models. The present study introduc...

In this paper, we investigate the detection performance of cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) using energy detector (ED) in several fading scenarios. The fading environments comprises of relatively less-studied Hoyt and Weibull channels in addition to the conventional Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, and log-normal shadowing channels. We have presented an analytical framework for evaluating differ...

Cognitive Radio (CR) networks enable dynamic spectrum access and can significantly improve spectral efficiency. Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) exploits the spatial diversity between CR users to increase sensing accuracy. However, in a realistic scenario, the trustworthy of CSS is vulnerable to Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification (SSDF) attack. In an SSDF attack, some malicious CR users deli...

More precisely, they evaluate the performance of a MRC-based CSS with Cognitive Radios (CRs) censored on the basis of the quality of the reporting channels. The performanc...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Local and Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks
Cognitive radio (CR) has recently been identified as a promising technology to solve the spectrum inefficiency problem. CR users or secondary users (SUs) need to sense the presence of primary users (PUs) constantly and rapidly to utilize their unused spectrum. However, detection is compromised when a user experiences shadowing or fading effects. In such cases, the user cannot distinguish betwee...
